| You may ask WHY should you participate? Reason #1- The average household has 3 cell phones that are no longer in use, sitting in a drawer somewhere. Eventually, these phones will end up in the garbage, and ultimately in a landfill. The rain will wash cadmium, lead and mercury from the ground into our water supply. Most people are unaware that cell phones contain such poisons. They can cause birth defects, cancer and many other diseases and disorders. We collect these phones to keep them out of landfills. Each phone collected is either sent to be refurbished, or disposed of safely. They never see a landfill. Reason #2- Funding cancer research is needed more than ever today, because cancer is so prevalent. We support awareness and research dollars going to the National Leiomyosarcoma Foundation. LMS is a rare and very aggressive cancer that has no cure. Since it is so rare, funding is limited, because most people do not know it exists. We are working to raise awareness, so that those afflicted may have a fighting chance.
