“Held” lyrics - special song
Back in December, I was blessed to be invited to speak at South Broward High School’s Ambassabor Club, on behalf of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. They were holding a talent show called Ambassador Idol, and they donated the proceeds to MAW. There was so much talent at this show! At my first visit to the school, which was to talk to the kids, they decided that they would dedicate the show to Leora. Needless to say, I was so touched by this. The Ambassador Club is all about community service, and these kids are amazing. They work so hard to help the community, and to do their part in the world! This song I have posted, called “Held” was sung at the show by a very sweet girl named Kendra, who looked and sounded like an angel. She dedicated the song to my daughter, and I am not sure there was a dry eye in the house. I know mine weren’t! Here are the lyrics to the song you are now hearing on Leora’s page (www.myspace.com/LeorasLegacy.com). It is really beautiful. I want to thank the kids at SBHS, as well as their fearless leader, Lou Vera, who guides them to be more than they think they can. And special thanks to Kendra, for singing this inspirational song. I had never heard it before. Now I know all the words! Held Two months is too little Who told us we’d be rescued? This is what it means to be held This hand is bitterness This is what it means to be held If hope is born of suffering This is what it means to be held

Leoras Birthday
Twenty years ago today, my daughter began changing the world, first, simply by showing her beautiful face. On her birthday, the same thing runs through my mind every year… As I looked at her for the first time, I had no way of knowing that I would not be seeing it for the rest of MY life. What would I have done differently had I known what was in our future? I can only imagine… The age-old question comes to mind - If you could know when you are going to die, would you WANT to know? I remember when Leora was recovering in the hospital after her first tumor was removed. They finally let me put her in a wheelchair and take her outside. It was the first time we talked about her having cancer. We still didn’t know what kind of cancer she had. I was rolling her down the sidewalk in front of the hospital, and she said, “Mommy, why me? Why do I have cancer?” What could I say? The only thing that was in my mind- “I don’t know, Baby. I am so sorry. I wish it was me instead of you.” She gave me an emphatic “NO”, and told me, “If it was you, I’d go crazy!” At the same time, I felt like somebody kicked me in the stomach, and I felt like my heart would explode with the love I felt for her. What a surprising thing for her to say. I spent Leora’s life worried what would happen to her if I died before she was grown, because she didn’t have a father. In a cruel, ironic twist, the opposite was happening. Who ever would’ve guessed? This ’selfish’ teenager, who ‘didn’t care about anybody but herself’ (according to my crazy mother, and crazier boyfriend at the time) would later tell me that she wasn’t afraid of dying. She was only worried about what would happen to me if she did. No one else who knew Leora was surprised when I shared that with them. She was loved by so many people, and known for her big heart, her silliness, and how she made it her mission to bring people up when they were down. She did that until the end, literally. Leora’s life was not easy. My life with her wasn’t easy either. I had her at nineteen. We really grew up together, she was tough. She wanted to grow up so fast. My job as her mom was to balance reeling her in with giving her space. Geeeeez- that was exhausting! To look back, of course, we all know she had a lot to do in a short period of time. I believe in the connectedness of all things. Maybe on some level, she and I knew that we did not have forever. We had a very different relationship than most mothers and daughters. Her friends, to this day, still tell me they wish they had with their moms what Leora and I had. Maybe if she wasn’t going to die young, we would have been different…I don’t know. So, here it is, twenty years down the road, and I have these incredible memories of a lifetime - Leora’s lifetime - that are so special to me. I am raising her brothers. Travis and Sky, no doubt, are better for their experiences too. They are such great young men. They are compassionate, and they have a deep seated gentleness and kindness about them that makes me so incredibly proud. This is, in part, because of Leora. They understand loss like few can. So if I had known twenty years ago that Leora would die at fifteen, what would I have done? I probably would have sheltered her too much, tried to make her spend all her time with me, and I know I would have tried to change the inevitable. Thank God we can’t know. I would not be proud of the way I raised her had I known. Instead, I AM so proud of the way I raised her, and the very special relationship we had. Leora made me better because I knew her, and I am the luckiest person in the world, because for just a little while, she called me Mommy. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, my sweetheart, wherever you are…

As many of you know, Leora’s 4th anniversary is Thursday, and my plans for the Rock Paper Scissors Tournament had to be sidelined due to me being sick for the better part of the last month.
Soooo…..
I have sent this around to many salons in my area, and am in the
process of an email to send to my list to hold a Hair ‘n’ Nail-athon on Thursday.
Basically, the hair or nail salon pledges a percentage or dollar amount for each product, customer and procedure for that day.
So I will pass this onto you all if you are intested in passing it on
to whoever cuts your hair, does your nails, or any hair & nail people you know…
There are downloadable forms if you want to print a paper flyer, or
they can just go to the website to register their salon - it’s all
clickable, plus, at the end of the business day they can simply go to
the donation page to make good on their pledge.
Here is the link- www.myshininglight.com/HairnNailAthon
Of course, there is a link on the front page at www.LeorasLegacy.com
Let me know if anyone is interested, and please send this post to your email lists!!!
Oh yeah - please wear PURPLE on her anniversary for LMS, and PINK on her birthday for HER…
GOOD FOR AWARENESS IF THIS IS COUNTRY / WORLDWIDE!

Despite the expenditure of billions of dollars, mainstream medicine’s track record for curing cancer is unfortunately dismal. Too many people have watched loved ones die miserably after suffering the terrible side effects of chemotherapy and other toxic conventional treatments, and more and more are choosing alternative methods instead.
Sydney’s mom was one such person. Sydney was a bright little girl just two years old when she was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. After a year of chemotherapy, Sydney was in remission and her parents and doctors hoped the cancer would not come back. But it did come back, and at age four Sydney’s doctors were recommending a bone marrow transplant as her only hope. However, this procedure offered a mere 5-10% chance of cure and the treatment could potentially cause severe damage to her body (or even kill her). Instead, Sydney’s mom decided to decline the conventional treatment and chose an alternative approach that was safe and non-toxic. Within just a few months, there was no sign of leukemia in little Sydney. She is currently nine years old and still cancer-free. Sydney’s story is not uncommon as advances in alternative medicine continue to outpace conventional allopathic medicine for the treatment of chronic metabolic diseases. So what do we mean by “alternative cancer treatments?” Any health treatment is considered alternative if it has not yet been approved by the FDA and has not yet been accepted by mainstream medicine. But many “alternatives” are scientifically based and effective treatments nevertheless. The approach administered to Sydney is an easy-to-use liquid formula called Protocel. This formula was developed by an American chemist who discovered a way to interfere with how cancer cells produce energy for themselves. The approach is supported by research done by the Nobel Prize-winning scientist Otto Warburg, who proved that cancer cells primarily use anaerobic cell respiration. Protocel interferes with that type of cell respiration just enough to make anaerobic cells (cancer cells) fall apart. The Protocel formula has been used by thousands of people to achieve recoveries from breast, prostate, lung, brain, colon, and virtually all other types of cancer. A side benefit is that many other illnesses–such as multiple sclerosis, viral infections, ulcerative colitis, and Crohn’s Disease also involve anaerobic cells. Thus, Protocel has been used to help people with these conditions as well. Typical examples include a woman who used Protocel to cure herself of metastasized bladder cancer, only to find that all signs of her Hepatitis C infection had disappeared. A man who saw his wife cure herself of metastasized vaginal wall cancer decided to use Protocel himself preventively, and within two weeks a psoriasis/fungal type infection that he’d had on his fingers for ten years completely cleared up. Another powerful alternative cancer approach based on Dr. Warburg’s anaerobic principle of cancer cells is called Cesium High pH Therapy. This was developed by an American physicist named Dr. Aubrey Keith Brewer who discovered that cancer cells readily take in the mineral cesium, which then alkalizes the cancer cells to death from the inside. Following are two real-life cases of people who chose to use cesium. A man suffering from advanced stomach cancer was told by his oncologist that his cancer was not responding to chemotherapy. His medical team said that the only thing they had left to offer him was total surgical removal of his stomach, after which they would attach his upper intestine to his esophagus. This man was not pleased with the option of trying to live without a stomach, so he declined the surgery. His wife found out about cesium and he used that instead for a complete recovery. He continues to remain cancer-free years later. A woman with metastasized ovarian cancer was told by her doctor that chemotherapy would never get rid of all her cancer; it could only hope to control it. As she saw her cancer gradually spreading, she finally stopped the ineffective chemotherapy and through the use of cesium became cancer-free as well. Protocel and Cesium High pH Therapy are just two of many effective alternative methods. In fact, my book Outsmart Your Cancer: Alternative Non-Toxic Treatments That Work presents 12 alternative cancer treatment methods that are all backed by sound scientific documentation and impressive track records. While no approach is a “Magic Bullet” that will cure everybody, when used correctly alternative methods for cancer often provide better overall chances for long-term cure than chemotherapy or radiation. As already mentioned, an important difference between alternative and conventional cancer treatments is that alternative methods are not officially approved by the FDA and are not prescribed by mainstream medicine. This means you won’t hear about them from your oncologist and your health insurance company won’t reimburse you if you choose to use one. So it is left to you to educate yourself as to your true options. Another important difference is that alternative methods are always non-toxic, whereas conventional methods are virtually always toxic. It’s the non-toxic aspect of alternative cancer treatments that is the key to why alternative methods are more effective at achieving long-term cures in many cases. This is because a non-toxic method can be used 24/7, for as many weeks, months, or even years as it takes to get rid of all of one’s cancer. Being non-toxic, it does not hurt a person’s healthy cells or immune system, and thus allows for continual use in cooperation with the body’s own healing process. Both chemo and radiation, on the other hand, are so toxic and so damaging to the body’s immune system they do NOT allow for continual use. In fact, using chemo or radiation every day for months would kill the patient. So breaks in the treatment are necessary to allow the patient to recover from the treatment–and these breaks allow the cancer to recover and grow back, too! Often, the cancer grows back even more virulently because the immune system is so weakened. This explains the vicious cycle in conventional medicine of remission and recurrence until the patient dies. It is tragic to hear heart-breaking stories of people who bravely suffered the side effects of toxic chemotherapy or radiation only to find their cancer has spread even more extensively throughout their body. Once they find an effective alternative approach, they frequently say, “If I had known about alternative methods, I never would have done the chemo and radiation in the first place.” With 1 in 3 Americans likely to develop cancer at some point in their lifetime, and our medical system turning its back on alternative medicine, it is essential and heartening to know there are non-toxic options out there that really can work! Tanya Harter Pierce is a retired marriage, family, child counselor who started researching alternative cancer treatments when a family member was diagnosed with the disease. My email to Elycia-
“Elycia
I am choked up as I write this. I cannot tell you the special meaning
that the Leiomyosarcoma Awareness bracelet holds for me and so many
others.
When I got the mail today, I saw the return label on the envelope. I
stopped in the front yard and tore open the package!
I am not exaggerating when I say that the picture does not do justice
to the real deal. The bracelet is so dainty, and so lovely. The
drawstring pouch is a nice touch too. Even your business cards are
high quality!
I have enjoyed so much the communication we have had in the creation
of this bracelet. There are so many unique jewelry designers out
there, and I have spoken with many of them over the last few months.
You are the only one I did not feel like was just jumping on the
Cancer Awareness bandwagon. Your offer to donate part of the proceeds
to research is very generous. I feel you truly care about our cause.
I look so forward to a long business relationship, and consider you a
friend to all LMS fighters
I WILL WEAR MY BRACELET PROUDLY!

confused
Angry Guy sez…
************************************************************
Hi everybody
It has become eerily quiet on the LMS homefront since I put up the donation page a couple of days ago…
Many, MANY people have been telling me for so long, “Please let me know what I can do to help!”, but suddenly everyone has disappeared!
I think, if many of you are like me, maybe you cannot afford to make a large donation.
PLEASE DON’T LET THAT STOP YOU!
Understand that a simple five, ten or twenty dollar donation is HUGE when many people do it. It doesn’t have to be anything bank-breaking.
Every little bit helps.
Please see yesterday’s blog to better understand our need for private donations. No one else is going to help us find a cure.
So PLEASE, you asked what you can do to help. I am telling you what we need.
We need you to get out your check card or credit card, and go to
www.LeorasLegacy.com. Please make a donation today!
Thank you in advance for your generosity
Love always, Jeri
