All over the world, more people are being diagnosed with Autism at earlier ages. Since this developmental disorder can be so misunderstood and potentially difficult to deal with, it is understandable that charitable organizations and philanthropists are busy doing all they can to help spread awareness about Autism. April is known as Autism Awareness Month in Dubai. To help the cause of Autism Awareness during this special month there was an entertaining Autism Rocks Festival that was enjoyed by many. Famous rappers Tyga and Flo Rida performed and helped to raise donations for Autism awareness and research.
Autism Rocks got started back in 2014. Thus far the annual event has raised over £600,000. Famous musical acts, like Lenny Kravitz, Drake and the late Prince have helped to raise these funds by way of their participation in these concerts. In addition to the great music that takes place at the Autism Rocks Festival, there are also events and attractions, like face painting, zip lines, horse rides and even a petting zoo.
Behind every great cause or event, there is usually special people who act as the driving force and inspiration. Autism Rocks was put conceived and supported by Usha and Sanjay Shah Denmark. Many people are familiar with Sanjay, as he is a respected entrepreneur. He serves as the CEO and founder of the perpetually successful Solo Capital Markets. Sanjay and Usha’s son, Nikhil is autistic, so it is easy to understand why this event is a labor of love for the couple.
Though Shah is successful in the financial world, he was originally studying medicine and planned on becoming a doctor. As is usually the case with the most successful people, though, Sanjay realized that he needed to take a different path in life. Mr. Shah went on to serve as an accountant for several high profile investment firms. Before too long, though, Sanjay decided to strike out on his own to blaze a new path. In 2009 he started up his brokerage company, Solo Capital.
Because Autism is a developmental disorder, there is a lot of misunderstanding about it amongst the public. Thankfully, though, the Autism Rocks Festival has proven to be a success over the past few years, and it has helped to raise both money and awareness about Autism in Dubai and around the globe. Those who enjoyed this fun event are surely looking forward to another great festival next year, and looking forward to helping fund Autism awareness and research as well.
